Forklift Financing

Forklifts move the goods that keep warehouses, factories, lumber yards, and job sites running. They are relatively affordable compared with heavy equipment, but they work hard, and a fleet of aging lifts can quietly drain productivity through downtime and repairs. Forklift financing lets businesses add capacity or replace worn units without a large one-time outlay.

What affects a forklift's value

  • Hours: forklifts can accumulate hours quickly in multi-shift operations
  • Capacity and lift height relative to common demand
  • Power source: for electric units, battery age and condition are major value factors
  • Mast, chains, and forks: wear, bent forks, and chain stretch
  • Tires: cushion versus pneumatic, and wear
  • Brand and parts availability
  • Attachments: side shifters, fork positioners, clamps, rotators

Right-sizing your lift

Buying the wrong forklift costs money every day. Before you choose:

  1. Know your heaviest load and highest rack.
  2. Measure aisle widths and doorways.
  3. Decide indoor, outdoor, or both. That shapes the power source and tires.
  4. Consider shifts per day. Multi-shift electric operations may need spare batteries or fast charging.
  5. Plan for operator training and certification.

Financing considerations

  • Multiple units: warehouses often replace or add several lifts at once. Submit them together.
  • Batteries and chargers: for electric fleets, include batteries and chargers on the quote.
  • New vs. used: used forklifts from a dealer with documented hours and service are common purchases. See new and used equipment financing.
  • Payment planning: estimate with a payment calculator and weigh it against rental or overtime costs.

Estimates are not offers. Any payment figure shown by a calculator or example is an illustration for planning only. It is not an offer, an approval, or a commitment to provide financing. Actual rates, terms, and payments are set by the financing source after its credit review and may differ.

Hypothetical illustration

Hypothetical and simplified, for illustration only. Not a client story, typical result, or offer.

A regional distribution business runs two shifts with three aging propane forklifts that are constantly in for repair. It prices three used electric forklifts with new batteries and a charging setup from a material-handling dealer. The application includes the quote, a year of repair invoices for the old units, and bank statements.
